Tree Plantation Projects Nature Club Surat, takes care of plantations in protected places, such as school and college compounds, around lakes and along road dividers. We take care of the plantation till the trees are more than 10 feet high. Every year, Nature club Surat raises 250 trees in protected spaces. We preferably plant indigenous trees. The road side plantations typically are indigenous flowering trees. In other protected properties, we plant wild fruit trees to attract birds. Our recent project is create a heronry at a lake near Surat. We are currently fencing the entire lake to protect the area from stray cattle. The lake attracts large number of resident and migratory waterfowl. Over the years, we expect, due to protection, the site will attract many bird species for nesting and roosting.
